Here is another view (this time looking south) of where the improvements connect back to existing US 281 lanes just south of the Cibolo Creek bridge. The southbound managed lanes (two interim, three ultimate) begin where the 2-lane off-ramp allows motorists to exit to the free access lanes. In the northbound direction, the managed lanes end, transitioning into the freeway lanes, where the free access lanes enter the freeway lanes via a 2-lane on-ramp for motorists continuing to head north into Comal County.
